E-bikes have bad reputation because of the fact that people consider them as motorcycle-wannabees for the lazy who hate the pedals. Well, this futuristic concept of Audi might change that.

The frame is ultra-light and it weights only 1600 grams (3.53 labels). It makes use only of bionic principles derived from nature. The rear wheel is driven by a chain. The electric motor is a permanent magnet synchronous machine; it is located at the lowest point on the frame and drives the bottom bracket shaft directly. One of the most interesting facts about this e-bike is the fact that the riding modes can be changed via smartphone. There are total of five riding modes, varying from pedal usage only, to total use of the electric power.

This Audi model is made for freestyle riding, so trial biker Julien Dupont and downhill specialist Petra Bernhard were participating in designing.
